As a multi-donor fund, Cities Alliance supports initiatives designed by city stakeholders in developing countries to provide migrants, forcibly displaced persons, people, and host communities with equal access to quality public services, labour market integration, and economic opportunities.
Following its mandate, Cities Alliance uses financial and technical assistance to build local partnerships among diverse city stakeholders and national and international actors to implement approaches that are locally relevant and work for all residents and particularly the youth.
Local actors are supported to inform and implement global agendas, and Cities Alliance convenes local partners at national and regional level for peer-learning and joint advocacy to best pursue this goal.
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the European Union (EU) have partnered with Cities Alliance on Cities and Migration initiatives since 2018 in secondary cities in the Horn of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East and North Africa.
