CIVIS 1 - Climate Change: What does this mean for your city?

The Cities Alliance is re-launching the CIVIS Notes Series with climate change as its main theme. The series will draw from the knowledge of leading urban experts who are well qualified to comment on the issues.

The first issue of CIVIS discusses what climate change will bring to cities, and which groups are most at risk. It also spells out various climate change-related steps that can be taken by city governments, both in terms of adaptation and mitigation.  

A discussion on the links between climate change adaptation and development will form the basis for the second issue. In the third issue, a case study will be presented on the climate change adaptation programme in Durban, South Africa. The fourth issue will discuss issues related to building a city vulnerability risk map for risk reduction.
