Burkina Faso State of the Cities Report
The report provides an overview of the urbanisation process in Burkina Faso over the last 20 years, with an in-depth focus on 12 cities.
The State of the Cities Report for Burkina Faso was commissioned by the Ministry of Urban Planning and Housing with the support of Cities Alliance and UN-Habitat as part of our Urban Country Programme for Burkina Faso. The report provides an overview of the urbanisation process in Burkina Faso over the last 20 years, with an in-depth focus on 12 cities: the two primary cities of Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso; five secondary cities (Banfora, Dédougou, Dori, Koudougou and Tenkodogo); and 5 small towns (Bitou, Pô, Réo, Poytenga and Yako). It highlights the main features of their current spatial, economic, social and environmental development. The report concludes with specific recommendations on how to enhance their economic growth.
