Reopening the Cinema Hall in Medenine, Tunisia

In cooperation with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) Cities Alliance implemented a project to bring the Cinema Hall in Medenine back to life.

The cinema hall in Medenine was once a popular place for screening movies but its doors remained closed for many years now, since 1971. In a participatory decision-making process with its citizens and civil society, the municipality of Medenine decided to renovate and reopen the cinema. In December 2022, the cinema will finally open its doors again and be an open space for the arts, culture, exchange, and community in Medenine and  the region beyond.
