Thriving Together: Integrating Forcibly Displaced Populations in Urban Areas

117.3 million people were forcibly displaced from their homes as of June 2023, with the majority living in cities. The increasing number of new conflicts and the overlapping crises of forced displacement further highlight the urgency of addressing the needs of the urban displaced.

Forced displacement is reshaping cities worldwide, creating both challenges and opportunities for inclusive urban development. As more displaced communities settle in urban areas, the need for integrated policies, innovative solutions, and collaborative efforts between governments, development partners, and local stakeholders has never been greater. 

This event brings together experts, policymakers, and city leaders to share insights on the challenges and opportunities for cities hosting forcibly displaced populations. The discussion will feature leading voices from the World Bank, Cities Alliance, UN-Habitat, and local governments. 

This hybrid event is open to all and will be relevant to all stakeholders interested in the subject of fragility, inclusion, and urban forced displacement.
