Anticipated Results

The project works to achieve the following results:

1.  An inclusive approach to planning. National and local governments follow a gender-responsive and climate-resilient approach in their urban planning and budgeting processes.

2. Women engaged in planning and their needs represented. Women municipal officials have leading roles in local planning and municipal budget processes, which include the voices of women constituents through the co-design process.

3. More public open space initiatives. Municipalities in Nepal identify, design, and implement an increased number of inclusive and resilient spatial projects focusing on public open spaces in their planning process.

4. Knowledge sharing. Municipalities and national knowledge institutions jointly participate in the generation and exchange of knowledge related to participatory processes, urban planning, gender, and climate-related initiatives.

By achieving these results, Cities 4 Women: Inclusive and Climate Resilient Urbanisation in Nepal will increase the demand for gender-responsive, climate-resilient public open spaces, generate proof of concept for participatory public open space projects, enhance the urban planning and design capacity of municipalities, and review the legal framework to provide recommendations for policy review.
