The Human Development Impacts of Upgrading Informal Settlements in MENA
Cities Alliance participates in a discussion on the Habitat for Humanity Home Equals report Improving Housing in Informal Settlements: Assessing the Impacts in Human Development.
The event, co-organized with the Urban Housing Practitioners Hub (UHPH), will explore the potential socioeconomic impacts of large-scale improvements in informal settlements across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The report sheds light on the vital role that equitable access to adequate housing plays in advancing human development. It compiles data from over 100 countries, including Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Iraq, Mauritania, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and Türkiye, using indicators such as income, health and education.
Cities Alliance will be represented by Hendrik von Schlieben, Programme Analyst in Tunisia.
