Eighteen months after the largest earthquake in Japan’s history triggered a devastating tsunami, the lessons of the country's disaster risk management and resilience are resonating through cities facing similar risks around the world.
From 9-10 October 2012, world leaders will meet near the epicentre of that disaster for the Sendai Dialogue and TEDxSendai to discuss the lessons from the tsunami and to build a global consensus on the need to better prepare for disasters that affect everyone but often impact the poor and vulnerable the most.
