The Innovate4Cities Conference is a five-day virtual event focusing on the nexus between science, practice and innovation vital to shaping inclusive. resilient, and climate-neutral cities. The conference will also closely examine local challenges and priority needs as well as cross-sectorial and, cross-topical pathways to achieving success in raising climate action.
Organized by UN-Habitat and the Global Covenant of Mayors, the event builds on the legacy of the 2018 Edmonton Cities and Climate Change Science Conference. The I4C conference's key theme is the Global Research and Action Agenda. Discussions stemming from this broader theme will address more specific topics such as post-pandemic green recovery, climate justice, and building back better
Cities Alliance is co-hosting two sessions in partnership with different organizations:
- The first session, Innovation for Inclusive, Resilient, and Climate-Neutral Cities, on 12 October, is organized in partnership with UK Research and Innovation - UKRI and the Commonwealth of Local Government Forum (CLGF). The session will focus on the nexus between climate resilience, urban poverty and informality.
- The second session, Data for Urban Resilience: The Need for Inclusive Approaches Towards City-Wide Resilience, on 14 October, is co-organized with the International Institute for Environment and Development -IIED, and it will explore innovative approaches for data collection and usage in cities.
