Migration: The Key Role of Data Transparency on Remittances
Webinar on 15 April at 4:30 pm CEST (8:30 am Guatemala time)
This housing laboratory (LAV) seeks to deepen the conversation on the role of data transparency in remittances. The discussion will explore the mechanisms for data collection, systematization and analysis as fundamental axes for the structured use of the opportunities they offer, including the promotion of better urban and housing conditions.
The session will be guided by the following questions:
1. How to make information on remittances transparent, integrating public and private, financial and remittance entities, in order to have more information on destination territories, use and receipt of remittances?
2. How to establish a multi-stakeholder platform that allows better decision-making on the use of remittances as a lever for development processes?
3. What mechanisms should be promoted, both from the public sector and from private entities, to take advantage of remittances as seed capital and leverage more resources to promote investment initiatives for development?
This event is co-organized by Cities Alliance, Urban Housing Practitioners Hub (UHPH), the AVINA Foundation, the National Housing Council (CONAVI), the Inter-American Dialogue and Propuesta Urbana, within the framework of Cities Alliance Cities and Migration programme, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The Global Programme on Cities and Migration aims to enable partner cities, local governments, host communities and migrants to manage challenges and leverage opportunities arising from migration to cities for sustainable and inclusive development.
