The Cities Alliance Secretariat is developing a new business plan that, once approved, will guide the organisation over the next three years.
The Cities Alliance Consultative Group had requested a business plan to implement the new Cities Alliance Charter approved in 2010. A first draft of the plan was presented to the Cities Alliance Executive Committee at its meeting in Accra, Ghana in July.
The plan focuses on a strategic programming approach with three main instruments: the Catalytic Fund, the Country Partnership Programme, and Knowledge and Communications.
It is structured around a baseline budget and work programme built on current expected funding over the next three years. The plan also presents options for scaling up the work programme.
A draft of the business plan incorporating revisions from the Executive Committee will be presented at the next Consultative Group meeting in Maputo, Mozambique in November 2011.
The Executive Committee was also briefed on the first seven proposals approved for funding through the Catalytic Fund.
The Executive Committee provides policy guidance to the Secretariat between Consultative Group meetings and oversight of the Secretariat on behalf of the Consultative Group.
