Democracy without women is impossible

Tunisia is a pioneer in the Arab world for its stance on women's equality. However, despite progressive gender parity laws and important progress having been made since the independence of the country, much work remains to be done. Cities, where women won 47% of council seats, have a key role to play in supporting democracy and the empowerment of women.
