The WRI Ross Prize for Cities is a global, biennial competition to celebrate transformative projects that have ignited citywide change. Five finalists will be chosen in Fall 2018, and a distinguished jury will select one winner to be announced at a gala event in April 2019.
The prize targets businesses, community groups, local government or other organizations that have:
- Fundamentally altered a city’s economic vitality, resilience, environmental sustainability or quality of life
- Catalyzed a movement or coalition that has changed the form and function of a city or beyond
- Pioneered an example that has been replicated and leveraged over time to create positive environmental, social or economic ripple effects
Transformative initiatives change the form and function of urban economies, environment and communities. They open our eyes to new possibilities by overcoming bottlenecks, leveraging investments, or offering new and scalable approaches to solving well-known problems. They impress hope and excitement. And their impact extends beyond the initial site or intervention, catalyzing positive change throughout a city.
WRI invites projects to apply by June 30, 2018, 11:59pm EDT.
