[12 January 2010] -- The Sustainable Development Network (SDN) Forum, the most important knowledge-sharing gathering of the year for SDN staff, opens on Tuesday, January 19 at World Bank headquarters in Washington, DC.
The Forum will consist of two Network Days (January 19-20) and a Sector Practices Day (January 21), followed by Sector Training Days (January 27-28).
The overall theme for this year’s event is “Act Now, Act Together, Act Differently: Going Forward on Climate Action”, building on the theme of the 2010 World Development Report.
Kathy Sierra, Vice President of the Sustainable Development Network, will address the Opening Plenary in the Preston Auditorium at 10:00 am. She will review some of the highlights of the past year (including the Copenhagen climate change conference), and offer some thoughts on the road ahead, particularly in the context of the Forum theme.
The two Network Days offer a rich menu of 20 sessions, organised into four sub-themes:

Making Climate-Smart Decisions;

Achieving Low Carbon Growth,

Promoting Innovation and Organisational Change, and
-
Managing Risk from Local to National.
During the Forum, speakers, panelists and participants in all sessions will explore what climate change means for development, and in turn what the development ambitions of developing countries mean for climate policy and our work.
