[17 July 2012] -- The Cities Alliance is gearing up for the sixth World Urban Forum, which will take place in Naples, Italy 1-7 September 2012.

As in previous years, the Cities Alliance will have a large booth in the Exhibition Hall of the Forum’s venue, Mostra d' Oltremare. As in Rio 2010, the Alliance will share its booth with  the Global City Indicators Facility (GCIF), which provides an established set of city indicators with a globally standardised methodology that allows for global comparability of city performance and knowledge sharing.

In addition to the booth, the Cities Alliance has been selected to present a Networking Event based on its 2012 Catalytic Fund, themed “Youth and the City,” and will showcase innovative approaches to economic development for the urban youth. It is scheduled to be held on 4 September during the 14:00 – 16:00 time slot.

We will be posting information on our WUF booth and events on our websiteon our Facebook page and via Twitter with the hash tag #CitiesAllianceWUF6.

Cities Alliance will also be supporting its members at their many events and looks forward to a lively and innovative WUF. Established by UN-Habitat in 2002 and held every two years, the World Urban Forum (WUF) is the world’s preeminent conference on all things urban, bringing together government ministers, mayors, diplomats, grassroots women's organisations, youth and slum dwellers groups, planners, engineers and architects, academics, and the private sector as partners who are all working for better cities.

The theme of WUF6, “The Urban Future,” was chosen as a reminder of how fast the world is urbanising.
