This new set of one-page briefs is part of an analysis commissioned to IIED by Cities Alliance that aims to help a range of urban development actors understand how six global agreements can support the advancement of sustainable urban development.
The groundbreaking event in Jinja put the spotlight squarely on Uganda’s fast-growing secondary cities, their needs, and potential. The entire Expo was locally driven and organised, and it attracted a great deal of interest.
It has been a full and very productive five years for the Cities Alliance, with fresh opportunities, a new home at the centre of Europe on a UNOPS platform, and far-reaching changes to the way we do business.
Through the Catalytic Fund projects, migrants have become more aware of their rights, improved their livelihood opportunities and are better integrated into the city, in close contact with host communities and government.
