24 February 2011: Cities Alliance Executive Committee Draft Programme 10-11 March 2011, e-mail 2
24 February 2011
Dear Executive Committee Members,
Greetings from Washington.
Attached kindly please find the remaining background documentation and handouts that will be useful during the forthcoming meeting. Can I please remind you to bring your own print-outs of the necessary meeting documents as we do our part to reduce waste.
All documents are posted on the CA Members' website at http://www.citiesalliance.org/ca/ and the meeting room will have WiFi access for those who request it.
With respect to the Charter, subsequent to Mexico City, we went over the document in some detail with the World Bank's lawyer, and went through a process of ensuring consistency, clarifying terminology etc. We will have all of these edits available at the EXCO for any member who wishes to review these adjustments.
The version that is attached, below, is the clean version, save for those issues where we felt it would be necessary to revert to EXCO for guidance on final wording. As you will see, these are very few, and need not divert EXCO for too long.
I may mention, in passing, that there has been a great deal of interest in our revised Charter (and the process leading to its adoption) expressed by some other Global Programmes located at the Bank. I also wish to record that the Secretariat has also found it to be a very clear document which provides welcome guidance to our work programme.
Kindly please confirm your participation to Sid Henderson (shenderson@citiesalliance.org), if you have not already done so.
With my best wishes,
William Cobbett
