Summary
Chile held the "Mes del Barrio", a celebration of space and balance of work achieved over 3 years  of implementing the ongoing Neighbourhood Recovery Program of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MINVU). The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the social, academic and institutional recovery of neighbourhoods and building of inclusive cities. In order to share the three activities with a broader audience and to contribute to the dialogue on issues related to the recovery of neighbourhoods and the city, MINVU and its partners wish to document the main reflections and lessons that emerged from the Mes del Barrio experience through a print and digital publication that not only records the highlights of the event and discussions but contextualises and analyses Chile’s National Recovery Program.
Objectives
The project has three major objectives: 1. Documenting the Chilean Neighbourhood Recovery Program, in particular the three major events of the 'Mes del Barrio': 'Expobarrio', the 'Best Practices workshop' and the 'Second International Forum'. 2. Contextualising and analysing the Chilean Neighbourhood Recovery Program, synthesising and disseminating the lessons learned from implementation to date to a national and international audience. 3. Developing documents that contribute to a future Sustainable Policy on Neighbourhood Recovery in Chile.
Activities
The Structure and format of the publication “Mes del barrio “, articulates along the following activities. Volume 1: Mes del Barrio o Transcript from opening video recording o Writing and Editing for Publication -> Drafting and editing of Analysis Chapter -> Drafting and editing of rooms -> Drafting and editing of closing words -> Editing photographs required to obtain quality printing and digital book. Volume 2: Best Practices o Writing and Editing for publication o Drafting and editing good practice summary o Drafting and editing seminar tables on paper transcripts. o Drafting and editing of the main conclusions on good practice o Drafting and editing summary of 24 good practices, in particular 3 winners and 3 honorable mentions Volume 3: Second International Forum o Translation of 3 presentations of international experts from English to Spanish. o Transcription of opening and closing speeches, exhibitions of international guests and all of the working out during the afternoon. o Drafting and editing of presentations and roundtables on the basis of transcripts. o Writing and Editing for publication o Drafting and editing of the main conclusions of the Forum General content o Drafting and editing Overview and context of Mes del Barrio o Editorial of Minister's Remarks o Drafting and editing Program summary General design o Design of the box containing 3 volumes of the publication (interior and exterior) o Adaptation of the 3 original documents to a digital book format (Flip Page or similar) o Design digital publishing CD: CD surface, set of postcards and CD box container publication o Design and layout of the 3 volumes of the publication (interior and exterior)
Expected Impacts and Results
Developing dissemination materials that are able to contribute to a future Sustainable Policy on Neighbourhood Recovery in Chile.
